
I came across an interesting article today at businessweek.com about "fad marketing". Apparently, in Japan, it is not uncommon for a company like Pepsi to release a bizarre new flavor, like Ice Cucumber, then pull it at the peak of its popularity. This is all designed to renew interest in the company as a whole.
As weird as this strategy seems, reports show that it works. Also, as weird as Ice Cucumber Pepsi might seem, I would actually really like to try it. Now if only they could work in some ranch flavor. Yum.
